I would like to keep my happy memories of The Office, basically Seasons 1 through 3, when the stories were original, heartfelt, hilarious, and real.  What is happening now, I can’t even begin to understand.  So that’s it for me for now.

• Well, The Office is back and I really don’t know what to think.  I wasn’t as excited as I normally am for the season premiere this year, because I just don’t have as much invested in the show anymore.   The storylines have become beyond outrageous vs awkwardly relatable as they used to be.  I wish this was the last year and they could go out on a high note.

In My Opinion (because I have something no one else has: my brain):

• Ahh…another season over, another season finale, and now we will spend all summer waiting for the fall.  However, this year the season finale did NOT feel like a finale at all!  It was a funny episode, but not finale quality.  There weren’t any interesting cliffhangers to leave us with, so they went for the obvious one: Holly coming back to Scranton.  As much as I ADORE The Office, I think they should make next year the last year and end on a high note.

• I loved Pam preparing everyone to cheer up Michael post breakup, and Dwight and Angela’s mediator scenes.  I was not a fan of the scenes at the baseball game or of Michael’s storyline.  I thought Jim and Pam having to hear Dwight and Angela have sex was so gross and hilarious.

• This episode was dedicated to the memory of Larry Einhorn, father of Randall (cinematographer and director of many Office episodes).

In My Opinion (because I have something no one else has: my brain):

• I loved the cold open, it was really funny and original, and I especially loved Jim’s little wink at the end (maybe a small concession to all the Halpert lovers out there who haven’t gotten a good dose of swoony Jim in awhile).  I was prepared for a Dwight investigation episode, however, so where the plot ended up going was a disappointment to me.  I liked Pam distracting Michael with a picture of the baby, and Darryl’s plan to mess with Andy backfiring on him.  I also liked how we got to see a view of what it looks like when everyone from the office stands in the conference room to spy on people in the parking lot.  Overall a very random episode that had it’s moments.

• This was another episode where Michael is almost too awkward to watch.  The cold open had me laughing out loud and I enjoyed some of the smaller jokes but the main story of Michael trying to flirt with Donna was annoying to me for some reason.  We’ve seen the whole awkward flirting, want to kiss her in the office bit with Holly and it worked out well for him, it just seems too similar to have it work out once again in the same way with Donna.

• It’s always nice to have new office episodes back, especially when they’re funny!  I loved all the impressions of Kevin/Cookie Monster, Erin using her hair as her room, Phyllis’ disgusted face when Erin asks Andy if he slept with her, and everyone making fun of Gabe, especially Dwight’s stick insect joke.

In My Opinion (because I have something no one else has: my brain):

• I liked this episode because it was the kind that has a lot going on and a lot of funny moments.  Michael was almost impossible to watch as his own worst enemy when trying to date while Andy and Erin went from cute to kind of annoying.  I love Dwight and Isabel together, he becomes a total stud when he’s around her.  By far the funniest part of the episode is Dwight’s reaction when he notices Angela next to him.

• I liked the cold open “M. Night Shulman” joke because the real M. Night lives about 5 minutes from where I grew up in PA!

In My Opinion (because I have something no one else has: my brain):

• This episode was a little frustrating for me.  I figured it would be resolved in the end by someone realizing that Sabre would have HAD to have a copy of the leads they paid $50K for somewhere!  I mean, would any successful company actually send something out without having a copy for their records?  And also, it was only Dwight’s portion of the leads that got thrown away, not all of them.  Anyway, I did like Michael’s scavenger hunt for Jim, “Hope grows in a dump,” Dwight and Michael back to normal, and Andy and Erin’s first kiss in the very-obviously-green-screened dump.  I laughed out loud at Andy and Erin’s hot/cold bit, Andy’s face is hilarious when he thinks Erin has the leads somewhere on her.
